Hello, I've gotten help here before and after hours of trying to fix a new problem I am back...

I bought a surface pro 4 last month, fully updated it, and began an overseas deployment a few weeks ago. I'm having a problem connecting to WiFi with then surface pro. Everyone around me are connectong with no issues, and I'm on my phone with no issues typing this now.

I am almost every time getting DNS_probe_ finished_no_internet or DNS_started errors. I have released, it is not just chrome giving me this problem, no other browser or internet applications or updates work.

I have tried every fix found in: kapilarya.com/windows-sockets-registry-entries-required-for-network-connectivity-is missing

To include: flushing DNS/renewing. Windsock netsh reset, deleting winsock in registry and putting new entries in, system restore as far back as possible, deleting internet history and cache, uninstalling network card drivers, reinstalling network card drivers, updating network card drivers. Also many more I'm sure I've forgotten.

By turning network adapter on and off or after restarting the computer I can usually access the internet for 5-10 seconds, usually enough to access a web page and then it quits working again. Running windoes troubleshooting or diagnostic tools usually comes up woth nothing, though it did point me to the winsock error at one point, and currently is telling me the problem found is the default gateway is not available but every time I run it, it is 'fixed'. Also pinging 192.168.1.1 normally times out, if that is helpful.

I'm really at a loss for what to do, and being in a third world country for the foreseeable future is severely hampering my options.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can try? Windows is as updated as I can currently get it , but i was very vigilant in updating before I left.

Thank you for any help or idea you can give.

Edit. Nets winsock reset will sometimes work for a few seconds or so, letting me connect to maybe one page.

Did you try these 3 commands from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt?

netsh int tcp reset

netsh int ip reset

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter after each one and reboot the system when done.

Lack of internet access is hampering your options also.

Without that, we can't scan to see if the system is infected or not - and that's the most likely situation at this point.

If able, I'd suggest backing up your stuff and then do a RESET (using the Remove Everything option) in order to set the system up correctly.

Then see if you can connect normally.

Beyond that, post over in the Am I Infected forum for suggestions on making sure the system is clean:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

So I have identified a slight solution.  It only works intermittently still, but it is better than nothing.  It will work anywhere from 10 seconds to nearly 10 minutes until it needs to be done again.

The only way I can reliably get it to work is by using internet explorer.  If I use internet explorer, and troubleshoot the connection, it always works.  Windows Network Diagnostics will find:

Problem with wireless adapter or access point, and then says fixed.

Here is the diagnostics information, if it helps:

So I have narrowed it down somewhat, maybe? I at least have some kind of idea how to get around it. Does this point to something being wrong with the network adapter or it possibly being faulty?

Thank you for any help.

Way beyond my abilities!

If the system isn't infected, then let the experts in the Networking forums have a look at this.

Here's a link to them:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/21/networking/
