When I visited this morning, I got a message from google about the page being unavailable, then AVG gave me a threat warning:

Looks like a false positive if you ask me.

https://www.virustotal.com/fr/url/148dc0ac7d7332e0a69f55dba29a5d979a9b6fc4faba7cae5d7e7de22921a29c/analysis/1455563826/

No detection at all on VirusTotal and AVG doesn't detect a sure threat, just a "possible" one. I would rely on these kind of detections to determinate whether or not a website is infected.

I just tried the site again - the main page loaded, but when I selected the Storm Centre link, the same google error came up (something about indeterminate length) and then AVG gave the same warning.

Can you copy/paste the URL you are trying to access when Google gives you an error message and AVG pops-up? My guess is that AVG is blocked the website, hence why you're getting the Google error. It works just fine on my end. Try to disable AVG and access the website again.

This is the url:

https://isc.sans.edu/#__utma=216335632.2129064485.1447306106.1455561871.1455564174.113&__utmb=216335632.10.9.1455564792338&__utmc=216335632&__utmx=-&__utmz=216335632.1447306106.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none)&__utmv=-&__utmk=82960853

And the google message is : ERR_CONTENT_LENGTH_MISMATCH

At the moment, I'll wait before disabling AVG and trying it again

Are you able to access the URL below?

https://isc.sans.edu
I was able to access yours just fine. It looks like a redirection issue on your end.

Then the issue really is caused by your AVG product, and it looks like a false positive to me. You could try whitelisting the website in AVG's Web Shield to access it. Oh and report it as a FP to AVG as well.

I have submitted the log to AVG, and asked if it was a false positive.

It happens from time to time that we post a diary entry on the ISC Diary (FYI: I'm a SANS ISC handler) and that it triggers some anti-virus products.

Do you know if the page was Bojan's diary about blind SQL injection?

The first detection was on the front page.

I've heard nothing from AVG, and I've visited the Sans Institute page recently, with no problems.

Thanks for the assistance, Aura.

It was that article indeed, yes. And I can see how it would trigger Antivirus detections.

https://isc.sans.edu/diary.html?date=2016-02-15

There was the one from Johannes underneat as well.

Yeah, the SQL statements in the ISC Diary entry with 1=1 expressions might trigger AV.
