I was recently given an old Acer Aspire 4920 laptop, this was running Windows Vista, so I decided on an upgrade to Windows 7 which I have.
The upgrade went perfectly normally until the final re-boot, Win 7 is running properly apart from a message saying "Setup discovered that your .NET Framework version 4 needs to be repaired, do not turn off until Setup completes"
This has now been running for many hours without any sign of completing, so I assume that I am stuck in an unproductive loop.
Despite the message I have turned off the computer several times, only to be confronted by the same message on restart.
In desperation I have tried to stop NetRepair from running, intending to re-install Net framework 4, only to get the message "Unable to stop process, access denied" and NET won't reinstall while that is running!
I've looked in Control Panel and the only version of NET listed is version 1.1 no mention of version 4 at all, I'm thinking this is what's causing the bother!
Does anyone know how I get out of this, and either remove .NET framework and reinstall v4, or at least stop NetRepair from running?
Any help VERY gratefully received!
