I recently bought (27 days ago) a new Dell Inspiron with windows 7......

Reading specs it claimed a 7 hour battery life. I didn't expect that but what I'm stuck with is  lousy. To get 3hrs and 15 min., I have to turn off the lit keyboard and run under power save. With keyboard on and a decent brightness I get 2 1/2 hours.  Is this normal? I have a few days to return it. Thanks for any help you may provide.

When computer manufacturers advertise specifications like battery life, it is actually the specification if the computer was running under "perfect" conditions. It would be very hard if not impossible to achieve these so called perfect conditions. So yeah, that battery life is fine. :)
