AVG Firewall on my AVG Internet Security in interactive mode keeps asking me if I want to allow or deny something called "microsoft compatibility telemetry". I have no clue what this is. DuckDuckGo nor does Google know what this is. All that came up was various posts with that name, but nothing explaining what it was, is it safe, or if it is a spoof of some kind. What is this so called microsoft compatibility telemetry and is it safe to allow it access to the internet?

Worth a read:

I concur with the suggestions to leave it alone.  Seems odd that a user would want to employ an O/S devised by Microsoft...but not allow such to collect/report data back to MS....but users/members/people have some very strange ideas today.

The folks in BC's Firewall forum may be able to tell you why AVG alerts on it, topic moved to Firewalls.
