As the title says, every single time I open my browser (Firefox is pinned to the task bar) it tries going to some website called %snf%.com.
I have tried some fixes I've seen around the internet, such as copy-pasting the shortcut from the .exe in the Program Files, but that only works SOMEWHAT.
- If I open the Firefox from the .exe file in the Program Files in Windows Explorer, it works fine, loads the normal homepage.
- If I copy a Firefox.exe shortcut to the desktop and open it, it works just fine, loads the normal homepage.
- If I pin a Firefox -shortcut- to the taskbar and open it, it works fine, loads the normal homepage.
BUT, if I simply drag-and-drop the Firefox.exe INTO the taskbar, it always tries to come up to %snf%.com
Although it technically "solves" the problem, I do NOT want a shortcut to Firefox in the taskbar, because then it adds extra icons to the taskbar where I do not need them (whenever I open a new browser window).
Also, Ive tried System Restore 4 times tonight, and it fails every time, saying that my disk is corrupted or something. (even though every single case I've seen of pop-ups warning of a corrupted hard drive comes from some kind of malware as of recently)
Please help, Ive tried uninstalling the related programs and running Malware Bytes many times. I havent kept up with that the good spyware programs are since MB and Spybot: Search and Destroy were popular.
