Howdy y'all.

I've run into three separate problems that I don't know how to resolve.  They may be all connected to a single source, but I can't determine that.

Problems:

1) The CBS Manifest appears to have corruption.  SFC and DISM won't repair it.  They say they can, but they don't.

2) SkypeHost.exe is apparently having a problem with combase.dll.

3) I use a game client called Arc.  It used to run, but has stopped running since the upgrade.

I'm not sure what information I need to provide to resolve all three of these, nor can I ascertain what order they should be resolved in.  Please advise me on this and provide suggestions on the information you need.  If there is a post I've missed that describes this information, please feel free to point me to it.

Thanks for reading.

There may be nothing we can do to fix these.  At times it's the price for running advanced builds of an OS

FYI - DISM was broken in earlier builds of the OS, and was repaired.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was broken again (and, if so, there's not much we can do to fix it).

      - I've had such serious problems with the Fast Ring updates that I've moved back to the slow ring and am still at 11102)

      - Some CBS errors are known issues, while some are just errors and don't affect your system.  It takes a Windows Update expert to tell (and I'm not one)

Have you tried a RESET with the Keep My Files option, or a RESET with the Remove Everything option?

But let's try looking at these reports:

1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.

2)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

- John  (my website: http://www.carrona.org/ )**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **  If I haven't replied in 48 hours, please send me a message. My eye problems have recently increased and I'm having difficult reading posts. (23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

If you upgraded from an earlier build, you could try a clean install.  I've got 14257 installed on two desktops with no apparent problems, but the only game I play is spider solitaire.

 Good luck.

Make regular full system backups or you'll be sorry sooner or later.

I'm going to reserve that as the last resort, nuke it from orbit option.  I don't want to do that, because it'll take for ever to reinstall everything, but I will if I have to.

Uninstall Skype and the Skype app - many, many errors related to it in the Admin logfile.

Reinstall a freshly downloaded copy if you use Skype.

Uninstall OverwolfUpdater - many errors due to it

Uninstall VMWare, many errors due to the hcmon driver.

To stop Media Center tasks from running (and then failing) delete this registry key (as with any deletion, backup the key first):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\Windows\Media Center

Once you've deleted the above registry key do the following:
- Go to the Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows folder and delete the Media Center folder (as with any deletion, backup the folder first).
- Then delete the Task Scheduler Library...Microsoft...Windows...Media Center task folder within the Task Scheduler (I don't think that you can back this up, but you can export the tasks individually).

Please attempt to fix your DCOM errors by doing this:

Go to Start, and then to Run (or the Win and R keys)
Type in "dcomcnfg" (without the quotes) and press Enter

In the Component Services window that opens, go to the left hand pane and double click on:
- Component Services, then on
- Computers, then on
- My Computer, then on
- DCOM Config
If it asks you to register any of the components, click Yes
This may happen several times if there are several unregistered components

Once you're finished, close the window and reboot the computer.
Check to see if the problems are fixed.
NOTE:  This is a generic "fix" for DCOM errors.  If it does not fix your problems, please post back.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version V25.3) dates from 2011.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.

You appear to have no (0) Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.

This device is disabled in Device Manager:

Shrew Soft Virtual Adapter    ROOT\VNET\0000    This device is disabled.

If no longer needed, please uninstall it.

If needed, please enable it.  Then update it to the latest, W10 compatible version.  Then, if so desired, you can disable it again.

MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) is known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys).  Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting.  Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Please take a look at the number of older drivers listed in the output of the dump files.

Quite frankly, an un-updated system with all the programs that you have installed is just waiting for a crash that you can't recover from.

1)  Backup your stuff - and do it regulary.

2)  Update ALL of the programs that relate to the drivers in the memory dumps.  Ensure that you update everything to a W10 compatible version.

3)  Additionally, the NTIOLib_X64.sys drivers are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems, and at least 2 of them are involved in your BSOD's

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.  This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE:  these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive.  The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.amd.com (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLYhttp://www.sysnative.com/forums/showthread.php/668-ATI-video-cards-DRIVER-ONLY-installation-procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".  Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's.  If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Acronis TrueImage drivers date from 2011 and may be incompatible with your version of Windows.

Please check the Acronis website to ensure that your version is compatible w/Win10

Uninstall Skype and the Skype app - many, many errors related to it in the Admin logfile.

Reinstall a freshly downloaded copy if you use Skype.

I'm not home, but I wanted to address this part.  Skype has been uninstalled.  Apparently, in one of the Insider builds, Microsoft merged Linc and Skype, then rebranded it as the new Messenger app.  I shut off the Messenger app in settings, but this STILL fires off.  I'm at a loss as to how to kill it.  Any ideas?

Don't worry about the AMD Overdrive thing right now.

EOL (End Of Life) means that the manufacturer won't develop things for this board any more.
As such, incompatibilities are a very real possibility.

In the event the extended attempts to fix this aren't successful, you may want to reinstall the previous OS and see if the problems go away (that's the usual test for compatibility issues).

But now we wait and see if the BSOD's continue, or if you get other errors.

No BSOD's over the weekend (yay!), however, I'm still getting some odd errors in the log. Cortana still seems to be causing DCOM errors and an application called "SideBySide" is causing problems with some files installed by the Microsoft debug kit. The really odd part is it's all stuff that seems to be related to ARM processor development, which I don't use.

Don't pay attention to the logs - they'll drive you crazy!

DCOM errors aren't usually worrisome, and the SxS (SideBySide) errors are usually the same.

I only look at the logs after I have a problem to work on.

You will never be able to fix all the errors/warnings that you see in the logs, so it's not worth pursuing them unless there is a problem.

Then it becomes a matter of finding the appropriate errors that relate to your problem and fixing them.

For example, I had a problem installing Visual Studio on my system a while back.

I have many SxS errors in the Admin log of my Event Viewer (and most of them relate to the ARM processor features).

But as the system is working well, I ignore those errors.

If you have Visual Studio installed, try removing (uninstalling) it.
