Internet Connection Cuts Off After 5 Mins!

Hi, please help, sorry if i am in the wrong place.

Internet connection cuts off after 5 mins, reconnect and then it does the same.

Initally AVG found a virus called Jar jar and was unable to remove it,
I then found the infected files manually and removed them myself.

Re-ran AVG and the virus had gone!

But same problem occurs internet connection fails after 5 mins.

I then reset the Java cache as suggested by a user on here.

Still got the same problem.

I then followed the 10 steps in preparation for the hi jack this.

Ad-adware found Malware with a TAC rating of 10

Ad-adware removed it.

Then the house doctor found 3 things and fixed/repaired them or whatever.

Still hasn't fixed the problem though.

I went through the help FAQ and checked that the dissconnect if idle box is not ticked. that was ok.

I have run all virus removers and spyware stuff and the computer comes up with nothing, but it still dissconnects after 5 mins.

I've done my best and i cant sort it please can someone help!

Hello kelt and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

The problem could be more related to the DSL connection. Either the line/signal or the modem. I had a similar issue when I first got DSL. I called the ISP and made them open a service ticket everytime the line dropped until they got sick of hearing from me. They sent a technician out and after testing the line quality I was told that there should be no way I could even get a signal as dirty as the line was. The phone company had to replace the entire line back to the switch to fix it.

Another person complained until the ISP finally checked the switch and discovered that their equipment was defective (it only showed up with certain users). They replaced the switch and the problem was fixed.

If the line quality checks out then the next place to check is the modem (and router if there is one). You can get help checking these in the XP or Internet Browsing forum. Let them know that you have been to this forum and no malware was found.
