Hi,

I'm interested in creating a stronger captcha for my website. I currently reCaptcha by Google and it is on the contact form page which is done with contact form 7. However, I have been receiving more spam lately. Is anyone aware of ways to make it harder to spam me by using a stronger captcha? I'd like to find a free solution if I can.

A stronger CAPTCHA may not help. Spammers may employ a CAPTCHA solving black market sweatshop to solve these. Here's an article by Brian Krebs, a reporter that investigates cybercrime, on how that works:

Since you mentioned Contact Form 7, I'm assuming you're using Wordpress. If CAPTCHA's not working and spam's getting to be a problem you might consider Wordpress's Akismet comment spam service. https://akismet.com/plans/ . It's about $60.00/yr for one site but could be worth it if spam is becoming a burden.

Thanks, for the reply. I was unaware of the lengths some people go to in order to solve captcha's. I was only receiving a small amount of spam before but recently started receiving a little bit more. It is still a relatively small amount but I just thought I would check and see if there was a way of eliminating it. Thanks again.
