Finder is an open-source search tool written in Bash for GNU/Linux (tested on Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop AMD64). It can search for files and directories by search term, or it can search for files by SHA-512 checksum (additional hashing algorithms will likely be added in future releases).

Finder 2.0 Stable:
eJO9OaY.png

This is a major update. Finder is file/folder search tool for GNU/Linux, made and tested on Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop AMD64. It's written for Bash, and published under the same opensource license as most of my other scripts are. A copy of the license, list of dependencies, and installation instructions are included in the download.

Using Finder you can search for files and folders by name. You can also search for files by checksum. SHA-512, SHA-256, SHA-1, and MD5 are the checksums supported at this time.

You can output the search results to a file, stdout (your terminal), or both. Plus you can customize what is/isn't included in the output, as well as what is displayed while the script runs.

The script provides both interactive and non-interactive modes, interactive meaning it will prompt you for information rather than you having to append options.
