Now, what I mean is, when you shut down your computer, is there a way to have it wait a set amount of time before committing to it? An example of this would be the feature that's built into the Mac OS, where it will wait a minute before shutting down (with the option to confirm to have it do it immediately). I ask this because my computer case has the power button flat against the top, and I have a cat that just loves to jump on it and shut down the computer. With Windows as it is, it immediately shuts down unless I have the luck to have something open that stops it (unsaved notepad for instance), but even then it tends to proceed shutting down after a few seconds.

You can tweak this in power button settings http://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-what-the-power-button-does-windows-computer

Refers to windows 7 and 8 but still apply for Windows 10. And yeah I can sympathize my old cat used to use my old hp like a bed

No prob, sure it does not entirely do what you are asking but it makes a former Mac users life on windows a little more bearable.
