The Remote Procedure Call is a Service, there is no log.

Did you look to see if the Startup type was set to Automatic and Status was Running?

Maybe its a weird issue with either the keyboard or mouse. Have you tried a different mouse/keyboard to see if the pc will boot?

I haven't seen any thing about how the mouse and keyboard are attached.  The PS2 port on the MOBO or the USB ports??  This makes a difference and I suspect that they are USB devices and that the driver has been corrupted.  However, any old functioning mouse and keyboard will show the cause.  I have seen an adapter meant to convert the USB to PS2 connector for the mouse, but when used for the keyboard will cause weird problems.
