Hello. I'm posting this, trying to help out a friend with her MacBook (Model A1278).  I'm very much a newbie when it comes to AppleOS and first to admit I know nothing!

 

The issue is this: When turned on, the startup screen does come on, but it doesn't go any further, and after about 3 minutes, it simply shuts down.

 

If someone could give me some suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it!
