need 712MB RAM upgrade for dell inspiron 1300. just to spped it up a little bit. 1GB is too much and will lag the computer (i think!) Any ideas??? :thumbsup:

According to support at Dell your Inspiron 1100 will support 1gig of Ram.

Curious. Why 712 Mbs of RAM?? Why not 768Mb or 512Mb? It's been a while since the question has come up for me, but I believe XP can effectively handle 2Gb of RAM per processor, without being tweaked.

Crucial.com has a memory thing you can use to see what type of memory is compatiable and how much your computer can handle. you download a little program and it displays the results.
