Hi PEOPLE!

Every time I play a game from 30 minutes to a few hours it will give me a BSOD system_thread_exception_not_handled.

So I used Driver Verifier and my computer did not get to windows at all during every single startup. It continuously gave me the system_server_exception bsod.

BTW, there's a driver error showing up in the perfmon data as well as device manager, and that was hamachi I believe. I have since uninstalled hamachi but have not tested or restarted the system. (The computer was crashing before hamachi was installed)

Things I have tested:

- Prime95 for 5 hours

- memtest for 1 Pass

- 980 GPU had been returned to where I had bought it and came back to me as it was not faulty

It's either a driver issue (I really want to know WHAT driver...), the power supply or motherboard, or a memory issue if 1 pass isn't enough.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Your UEFI/BIOS (version 0803) dates from 2015.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a recent update.

Only 5 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most build 10586 (TH2/1511) systems have more than this.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates.

This device has problems in Device Manager:

Not Available    ROOT\NET\0000    The drivers for this device are not installed.

Try uninstalling it and rebooting to see if it goes away.

If not, then try updating your networking drivers (download a new one, uninstall the old, then install the new)

Lot's of STOP 0x141 errors in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report:

Please follow these troubleshooting suggestions:  http://www.sysnative.com/forums/bsod-kernel-dump-analysis-debugging-information/35-video-tdr-timeout-0x116-0x117.html#post29532
Also, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

4 out of 6 memory dumps blame PSINFile.sys - a driver for Panda Security Cloud Antivirus Platform PSINFile Filter Driver

While this may not be the exact cause, it's all that we have now (none of the memory dumps are Driver Verifier enabled)

Regardless, if you uninstall Panda, the BSOD's should stop.  If they continue, then that's a sign that another program was at fault.

Be sure to enable Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall if you uninstall Panda.

Thank you for the reply!

Just to make sure,

When I get back from work today I will do the following:

  • Check if BIOS is fully updated
  • Check if uninstalling hamachi removed the device manager error for this driver -> ROOT\NET\0000 by turning on the machine when I get home
  • If not, then uninstall the driver from device manager
  • Follow the troubleshooting guide to get rid of the STOP 0x141 errors
  • Uninstall Panda and turn on Windows Defender
  • Check if I have installed all the Windows Updates
  • Once all of the above is done, I will do a final restart of my machine and do a driver verifier test again to see if it can boot to windows or gives me another bsod
  • If that gives me nothing, I will do a final gaming test to see if it crashes within a couple hours

Also, I ran a properly long memtest run and it was passed 3 times without any errors. So that's out of the equation. From the looks of what I gave you already, is there a bigger chance its a hardware issue or a software/driver issue?

Oh and by the way, driver verifier when I boot into safe mode and reset it, the computer worked again. As soon as driver verifier was turned off the system_service_exception bsod just stopped. So uninstalling Panda will 100% get me through that driver verifier block on my system, but is not necessarily the fix to the overall problem?

Thanks again.

Driver Verifier is supposed to cause BSOD's

No need for Driver Verifier at this point.  If you use it, it may give false/misleading results.

If you get BSOD's and they are of the type that can benefit from Driver Verifier - then we'll try it.

Nothing with BSOD's is 100% certain.

For example, if another program is writing to the memory space owned by Panda, and then it exits.  Then when Panda finds unknown data in it's memory space (later on), it'll crash to a BSOD blaming Panda because nothing else is available.

Right now Panda is the likely cause.  But if you remove Panda and the BSOD's continue, then we'll have to look at the memory dumps to figure out what's happening.  Simple crashes are relatively easy to fix (such as by removing Panda), but you don't even know if it's a difficult crash until you start troubleshooting.

On average, it takes 2 pages of posts to fix most BSOD issues.  The more difficult can take up to 4 to 6 pages of posts.

I ended up doing everything you mentioned except for the 0x141 error troubleshooting as I believe they don't help me. I also got a 4k monitor last night and was playing various games on 4k and it didn't seem to crash.

Since Panda is now uninstalled, what antivirus do you recommend that doesn't have issues with Windows 10?

I will reply to this thread if I do experience yet another crash.

I generally suggest a full featured protection suite (such as an Internet Security application rather than just an antivirus).

Have a look at these resources for recommendations:

We sell more Kaspersky Internet Security at work, than we do Trend Micro or Webroot.

I don't use them (I use Windows Defender and the Windows firewall), but my situation is a bit different than yours.

Hey Usasma,

Tested it properly and it did crash quite a few hours into playing a fairly graphics intensive game. I know it's not the gpu since I have already claimed warranty but it came back to me with no faults.

What happens during the crash is a very fast loop of the last millisecond of a sound before it freezes/crashes. So when it crashes, I see a still image of the last thing in the game I saw plus the looped sound. From there I cannot do anything, no crash log, no bsod either.

I'm lost now and have done everything I can to try to find this issue... Now all it comes down to is the motherboard or power supply. I'm pretty sure there's absolutely nothing wrong now with windows with all things you've told me to do.

Thanks for the help.

If you're still having BSOD's, please zip up the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and upload it with your next post.

If you have trouble zipping it up, copy it to your Desktop and zip it up there.

BSOD analysis sometimes takes a while to pinpoint the exact cause (or to lead us to picking the correct fix).

So, we've eliminated the Panda issue - now let's see what the next issue is...........

No, it's a frozen screen. As I said in my reply, it does NOT give me a bsod. I have to manually shutdown the PC. And there is absolutely nothing new in the minidumps folder. If you think 100% it isn't a hardware issue, I don't mind doing a full reimaging.

Sorry, due to my vision problems I occasionally miss things :(

Also, it's not unusual to fix a BSOD issue and then have other problems.

Finally, there are no 100% solutions with these sort of problems - we just keep working on them until the problems don't recur.

Wait for the system to act up one more time, then please generate these reports:

1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.

2)  Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Hey Usasma,

It crashed again so I've attached the bsod-inspector zip file as well as the Event Viewer log file.

Thanks again for all your help, I have no idea how you have time for this haha.

psinfile and psuamain.exe errors (Panda) on 05 Feb 2016

No errors since (in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report)

No significant errors in the System or Application event logs either.

So, it's either something that's not monitored, or it's a hardware problem.

Uninstall your Avira antivirus (some traces of it in the logs).

Then ensure that Windows Defender and the Windows firewall are enabled.

Update your Intel graphics and chipset drivers to the latest available, W10 compatible version.

Then, if that doesn't work, try:

Then please run the following DISM commands to see if there's any problems with the system (from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt).  Press Enter after each one:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

FYI - I have repaired systems using the last command even though problems weren't found with the first 2 - so I suggest running them all.

From this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824869.aspx

You can also run sfc.exe /scannow from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt to check for further corruption.

and if that doesn't work, then try a Reset using the Keep My Files option.
This may remove some programs, but it will preserve your data.

Good luck!
