It looks like it primarily removed the Chrome extension "Video Downloader professional", which looks a bit fishy to me.

If the fixes it applied to Winsock broke anything, I would suspect you would have bigger issues such as not being able to connect to the web at all typically.

There is a chance you could be infected, but for starters, you can try this link from a Google Group about the same reported issue.

I don't seem to have any trouble connecting to the internet, thanks for the link.  I have read it and am trying some of their suggestions to no avail but I will keep trying.

any other suggestions?

We may need some more information. A few things to check for troubleshooting.

  • What operating system are you running? - Just noticed the log says you have Windows 7 x64
  • Are you able to connect to secure websites (e.g. https://www.google.com)?
  • Is the date/time on your computer correct?
  • Who is your email provider that you are trying to connect to?

What settings do you have for the email accounts? Mail servers and port numbers? There's always a possibility they've made changes to their servers and require more secure settings.

Make sure your settings match these articles.

Cox Email Settings

Gmail Settings
