RECORD companies have been awarded $150 million in damages from an internet network dispensing free music in one of the biggest blows against online piracy.Cameron Adams July 29, 2006 12:00am Australian-based file-sharing site Kazaa will pay damages to local and overseas record companies, and become a legitimate provider of legal music online. Last year the Federal Court of Australia found Kazaa had breached copyright by distributing music free to up to 4.2 million users, depriving artists of royalties.
