Hi All,

Sorry, I didn't know exactly how to word this topic, as it is quite strange.

I have an ASUS N53S laptop here that has several keys acting as shortcuts, but I can't find why or where they're coming from. It's specifically the laptop's own keyboard as an external doesn't have the problem. The keys are activating the ASUS power modes, but I haven't been able to locate a shortcut for this other that 'Fn' + 'space'. The problem seemed to be hardware as the problem keys are grouped [5,6,0,=,t,y,o,s], but I replaced the keyboard and the new keyboard has the same issue.

Are then any gurus out there that have suggestions as to what the problem is?

Thx

Gav

Just a guess here, but try uninstalling the Power4GearHybrid program?

Sorry, forgot to mention the problem started while the laptop was running Win7HP, updated to win10 and I've checked all the windows keyboard/disability features are off, but the problem remained. I'm confident there's no malware, and I've uninstalled P4GH (and numerous other junk apps). It's no longer switching power modes, but the same keys aren't working. The client doesn't believe the laptop has been dropped or had liquid spilt on it, and visual inspection supports the clients view. I'm leaning towards a MB fault, but how and why escapes me.

?Maybe some setting in the BIOS that enables hotkeys?

Do you have any screen shots of what happens when you press a certain key combination?

No checked the Bios and there aren't any settings for the keyboard. I have screen shots, but they aren't really relevant as like I said the key presses are acting like you are pressing a shortcut. It's like asking me for a screenshot of pressing 'ctrl+v'.

I was hoping that there would be some telltale message/title in the screen shot that would give me a hint as to what's causing this.

But beyond that, I'm stumped!

Maybe a call to Asus tech support can help?
