The practice of using keygens, cracking tools, warez, torrents or any pirated software is not only considered illegal activity but it is a security risk which can make your system susceptible to a smörgåsbord of malware infections, remote attacks, exposure of personal information, and identity theft. Please read this topic...If you installed a keygen for Bitdefender Total Security, then I suggest you uninstall it completely and replace with a legitimate version or a free alternative.

Well, I am NOT using a crack or keygen......or anything other than the free download and it still shuts off.

Care to comment on a real world solution

In fact, I have YET to find a SINGLE intelligible answer to this. Considering I gave up on Avast after almost 10 years because of the insane amount of ads it now jams down my throat, I may yet go back...as this #1 rated antivirus app can't seem to stay running...

When unexpected issues arise with anti-virus software, I generally recommend a reinstall which resolves most problems...unless the product offers a "Repair" option which you can try first. If that does not correct the issue, then an uninstall and use of the vendor's removal tool (if one is available) for performing a clean reinstall.

If the problem continues, then I would contact and ask Bitdefender Support...

Thank You for your suggestions, BJ.

In the interim, I have decided to return to avast. I have a decent sized home network for my business and personal needs and although reinstalling/repairing make perfect sense to get the program fully operational again, I do not feel that the rating justifies this. of the 8 computers on my network, 5 have met with recurring issues involving Bitdefender randomly turning off, Although I find the ads intrusive with Avast, it does indeed STAY RUNNING, which is my primary concern.

Thank you for taking the time, sir. I apologize if the tone of my earlier post was more negative than I intended(I was EXTREMELY frustrated at the time)

I do look forward to perusing your site more as I have time as I am SURE that you have an excellence resource that I can use.

Sincerely

Clint Bailey

You're welcome. I understand the frustration many folks may encounter with security programs not working properly.

BTW...you may want to check out Sophos Home Free Antivirus.

If it's to do with the Active Virus Control turning off, it's very likely the avc.xml file is corrupt that holds those settings.
Boot into safe mode and replace the file in C program files Bitdefender Bitdefender 2015 settings.

You can download it here https://www.sendspace.com/file/bpcxjv

Or probably make your own because it's really just a xml files that says:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
