I use Windows XP Home with SP3 which performs impeccably for my kind of PC  operations and have recently installed Opera in lieu of Chrome as my default browser.

Opera is a mirror image of Chrome, both in operation and layout. My bookmarks bar is now exactly the same as in Chrome. I find very little difference and Opera is faster in response on my machine.

Has anybody any experience with Opera ? If so, I would greatly appreciate their comments.

Opera - it was the best of times and it was the worst of times.

I was using Opera with great success until about a week ago and then it wouldn't load unless I do some stuff to clear up the problem which I have not.    How can something that worked so well from the beginning become non-functioning.     I'm not looking for an answer since they told me what I need to do I just haven't done it I'm procrastinating.     I hope there are no noticeable results from this sale for the common guy on the street.  Oh, I remember now - I deleted Opera and intend to reinstall and see if that fixes things now if I can just download it without picking up any extras.   I HATE EXTRAS they are sneaky little things.

Oh well I just re-installed it and the problem is still there with Opera.   Or maybe its google - I sign on to my G-mail account with Firefox with no problem but when I try to sign on to G-mail using Opera it says I need to enable cookies and clear my cache.    Why would it work on one and not on the other?

Gilda Radner was right ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING. :nono:

I have been using Opera since my OP and it has  worked perfectly without a single problem. in fact I like it better than Chrome which I used for years.

My experience more recently has been only with the portable editions of Opera  (from PortableApps).  Google Chrome makes handling settings and browsing history management and also using private/incognito much easier than does Opera.

The reason I am using Opera is that Google Chrome will stop supporting XP Home in April.
