windows 7 and xp network problem

hello 

I have had windows 7  pc networked with a xp pc  where the xp files were visible on the 7 pc but not the other way round ? so I asked on the windows 7 forum  but after following advice there I had no luck and to make matters worse I now cannot see the xp files  on the 7 pc any more !!!  I have been changing settings like hell but whatever I do no joy !!### and highly cheesed off !!
can someone please help me  ?

 

I have a basic knowledge of pc's  but if you could be as basic as possible please

If you have a Homegroup set on the Windows 7 computer remove it and then follow the steps in these videos.
