QuickBook Pro 2009 NO response and outlook restart by itself on windows 8.0

QuickBook Pro 2009 and Skype (7.15.0.103) have odd behavior on my Sony vaio laptop (PCG 41411L. 8GB/630GB) running windows 8.0. QuickBook Pro and Skype will not start unless they are the 1st or 2nd app to launch after system starts. After laptop running for a while, the QuickBook Pro may become completely unresponsive sometime and the laptop has to reboot. Recently there are a couple of times outlook starts by itself without obvious reason. We started to notice the problem with QuickBook and skype about 3-4 months ago. The laptop is about 3.5 years old and we never seen such behavior before. A friend said that the laptop may have been affected by a virus and don't know how to fix it other than re-installing everything on HD.
 
Is there anyone experiencing the similar problem with QuickBook Pro or Skype? Is there a way we can verify/clean if the laptop is affected by virus or its hardware starts to deteriorate? Many thanks.

Hi

 

Lets try a few things to try to get some more information:

 

:step1:

 

Disable all non-essential startup programs via the steps here.

- The guide is wrote for Win 8.1 - but may also be the same for Win 8.0 (if different let us know)

- Make sure you only disable items in the "startup" list.

 

:step2:

 

Restart the computer

 

:step3:

 

Do Quickbook and Skype start up now?

How is the performance now - does the laptop still become unresponsive?
