Windows 8/8.1
Hi
Suddenly I have started to get 'streaming required features' appearing
when I use office, then 'please wait while we load sign in' and then a
box asking to activate office.........which is already paid for and activated.
There is two options 1) send email or phone number or in very small writing at
the bottom enter a product key instead which i click and it fails and reloads
constantly, I am unable to use office until this is solved, apart from throwing
this in the bin is there a way to shut this off.
I do not have a M/S account and don't want one.

Cheers

#Edit..Ok I did a bit of checking and I find it's called CTR (click to run) service
and it is enabled in 'services' I disable it and office will not run, so in order to use office
I also have to be online grrrrrrrrrrrr am I correct or am I losing it

cheers

You didn't say which version of Office you have, but it sounds like you need to get one of the versions that runs entirely on your PC instead of one that runs on some Microsoft server.  I see a local store sells the Office 2016 Home and Student version for $150 and the Office H&B version for $230.  Maybe you should get one of these when your current subscription expires.

`

 Good luck.

Make regular full system backups or you'll be sorry sooner or later.

CRT is the Universal C Run Time (KB2999266).  Office 2016 requires this.

You can download it here

If this isn't Office 2016 please post what version you have installed.

It would also help to know if this is a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Hi Niweg/dc3

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I have solved the problem by uninstalling Office and
re-installing again and turned off the option to update
automatically.

My version is Office Home and Student 2013 and I have Windows
8/8.1 64bit
As A precaution I have also installed LibreOffice as a backup
in case it happens again
I honestly cannot imagine why anyone would want to be online
if say just writing a document or doing a spreadsheet etc.

Thanks anyway (hope it helps others)

I totally agree with you.  I think we know Microsoft's motivation.   :thumbup2:   There are probably a minority of cases where some would want to use the online versions, but I certainly don't have one of them.  I see you can get Office 365 Personal for $6.99/month, so maybe some folks just need it for a few months, who knows?

Good to know you got your problem solved.
