So my 'q' key got stuck while playing a game and no matter what I try, I cant seem to get it fixed.

Funny thing is when I restart my laptop, the key boots in the 'stuck' position (my password gets filled with 'qqq...').

Pressing the backspace key a few times temporarily solves the issue, the key gets unstuck and I get to login and use my computer normally, until I need the 'q' key again.

Pressing the 'q' again switches it to 'stuck', until the next time I press the backspace key a few more times.

I tried other keys but backspace seems to be the only one to temporarily fix this for some reason.

Any idea on what could be the problem?

Sticky keys, toggle keys and filter keys are all off (and have always been).

Edit: my laptop is a MSI GT-60 with those chiclet-like keys, windows 8.1

Thanks

Remove the keycap and see if anything is in it. Also check the ribbon cable for the keyboard.

Removed the keycap and the white hinge-like thing, cleaned the plastic trigger with a q-tip and compressed air (it wasn't even that dirty).

Now it takes a few clicks to register but then it's stuck again (without putting the keycap back on).

Is my keyboard busted?

Checking the ribbon cable would mean taking the whole laptop apart since the keyboard is screwed to the main frame

Can you give us a picture? With the keycap off too?
