For many a month now I've an intermittent issue with some images in all web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE) either not loading or loading distorted, and in the case of IE, the Google search page just not loading at all. I have only noticed this issue on my desktop computer (a Gateway DX4860). A laptop and tablet both load images without issues. I had recently installed an Nvidia graphic card, but pulled that out last week to see if that was the source of the issue, but that didn't help. I've cleared the caches on all the browsers, but that hasn't resolved the issue either.

Here are some screenshots to illustrate:

Firefox Google Search:

Chrome Bing Search:

IE Google Search:

And here the same sites on different browsers loading without issue:

Firefox Bing search:

Chrome Google search:

IE Bing search:

Anyone have any idea what to make of this? I'd appreciate the help a lot.

Have you tried temporarily disabling AVG?

Just did the same search by in the "incognito mode", and all the images loaded fine. I reloaded Chrome the other day and haven't added any extensions at all, nor changed any of the settings. Running Firefox in "safe mode" also allows images to load better. I only noticed one image not loaded in the search in "safe mode". Hope that helps. And thanks for the help!

Do you have the NoScript extension in Firefox, and perhaps something like ScriptSafe for Chrome?

I've been using SafeScript and NoScript for several yeara now.  They can be too-assertively set.  My SafeScript is set to Yes on most areas except for web bots -- I have that one marked to flag such & alert me.   I rarely interfere with NoScript except to allow known good secondary pages.

You may also have a DNS issue. The above from MiniToolBox will flush your DNS resolver cache, but perhaps you could use better and faster DNS servers.

Try adding Google Public DNS.

While Firefox is in Safe Mode, can you see Google images normally? If all is well in Firefox Safe Mode, please See HERE.

Yes, I can; however, this works not explain why the issue persists with adblock disabled or why images appear distorted in Chrome, which has no extensions added to it, in Bing searches.
