Not certain of appropriate place to post this:  Windows 7; I open Control Panel / System and Security / click on Windows Firewall / Check Firewall Status -- and nothing happens.  MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) says everything is A-OK with my PC ... why won't Check Firewall Status open so I can verify what's on or off?  Thanks.  Appreciate any info/help.

Just out of curiosity, try getting to it a different way.

In the top right of the Control panel home screen you will see 'View by'. Click on the little black triangle and select 'Small icons'. This brings a list which should have an entry near the bottom 'Windows Firewall'. Click once on this and see if opens now. If it does it should show the screen that says your firewall is active - or inactive - and you can take it from there.

If this doesn't work, post back.
