Hi, I am new to this site. Hope to find the answer to my question.

Tried to take my PC back to factory settings as I am having several problems. Followed instructions that I found on the internet. However, my computer wants me to insert the Windows disc which I don't have and not likely to get it. What else can I do please? I am no computer geek by the way. Many thanks for any help.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Hi Louis,

I have done what you asked but can't find a way to upload the two item.  They are saved on my desktop.  How do I attach these please?  You can guess I am not too good on computers.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Lintama, Welcome to BC.

For the mini tool box,

Open the file you saved to the desktop

Click anywhere on the open page and press CTRL+A on your keyboard ((all the text should now be blue)highlighted)

Right click on any part of the blue and in that menu select and click on copy

Now on BC Click anywhere in the reply box to get the flashing line and right click, from that menu click paste

All the text should be there now

click post button

I will try and find a good tutorial for the speccy soon

Hope that helps

Hedge

This link may be a little easier to read for the speccy

Hi Lintama,

Well done with the mini tool box,

But the speccy is a screen shot not a snapshot

The key is to press file tab in the left hand corner

then click publish snapshot  then follow the instructions in the link I posted above (post #4)

The difference is in the amount of information displayed

look at the difference between your screen shot and my snapshot

http://speccy.piriform.com/results/WlUMJJEkBDMyxIUxat0apqS

Louis will be on line in a few hours and the more info he has the more able to help

If you have any questions just ask

Hedge

Hi Louis,

The first link you gave me is for Windows Vista, not Windows 7 and the instructions are not any use as my computer doesn't have an alternative way of restoring to factory settings.  It wants a disc inserted!!  It just will not carry on any further to a second option.

The other link took me to the Google search engine so had a lot of choice on which website to look at and the computers mentioned are not Dell.  I'm afraid I am going to need a little more help with it.  Perhaps it just isn't possible!  :(  New computer may be the only option.

Take it slow :)...read the info, watch the videos which might be applicable.

It's not the end of the world...you are not the first person with a Dell system...and so on :).
