Hello there everyone,

I hope you will be able to help me with this. I am desperate and tried everything I could find online until now.

I have bought a new hp laptop and at first I tried installing win 10. It worked without any errors but I did not like the gaming performance so I thought may be it will improve if I install win 7 like in my old laptop.

I proceeded to install win 7 but at the end of setup when setup was trying to reboot the pc I received a wd.sys bsod. Of course I forced shut down and restarted and setup continued but now when I try to restart the pc, before the pc goes off I receive the same wd.sys bsod.

I tried to reinstall windows 7 numerous times, each time trying a different thing, reformatting partititons.... but no luck, I still get wd.sys bsod at the end of setup and then the same bsod every time I try to restart the computer.

I ran memcheck no errors. I ran checkdisk, no errors. This damned wd.sys bsod never stops. I windows update, even after the update installations I still received bsod with the same messages. Now after my final format and clean install I am writing to you. I have also created the zip dump file with bsod inspector as you have suggested in other messages and I will attach it here.

By the way, I tested the gaming performance and it was significantly better than win 10 in win 7 so thats why I want to keep using win 7. May be my processor or something is not compatible with win 7 anymore? :(

Can you please take a look? Thank you!

Unfortunately it appears that the OS installed isn't legitimate.
Please get a legitimate copy of the OS installed and we'll be glad to help.

Here's suggestions on how to ensure that your version is legitimate:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuine

Please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

As a courtesy, I will offer an analysis of your issues using the reports you provided.
I will not answer any questions about the analysis until the system is made legitimate.
If you do make it legitimate, please submit a new set of reports for us to check.

You only installed one update and Service Pack 1 isn't installed - please do so immediately.

Keep visiting Windows Update until there are no more updates left to install.

Please visit the manufacturer's website for your system/motherboard and download/install ALL of the drivers for your system.

The uploaded memory dump is a STOP 0x7E.  It is one of those that have a larger chance of there being a hardware problem causing it.

See the Usual Causes section here:  http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x0000007E

Please start with these free hardware diagnstics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Beyond this, as there was only 1 memory dump in the upload, I have these 4 suggestions:
1.  Get ALL available Windows Updates.  It may take several trips to get them all
2.  Get ALL available, compatible updates for your OS from the manufacturer's website (to include BIOS/UEFI).
3.  Start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html
4.  If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html
