I'm looking to back up and store files.  I am looking at this hard drive. Seagate Backup Plus 4TB 2.5" 5400RPM USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive (STDR4000100). The specs say that it requires windows xp, vista or windows 7. Will it be compatable with windows 10?

I can't find any specific data that states it is. But since the manufacturers data sheet is dated 2015, I would think so.

Instead of using either Windows built-in backup/restore or HD's included backup/restore, I recommend:

Macrium Reflect Pro and/or Acronis True Image.

Some folks have indicated also using FreeFileSync [however I do not like jumping through PUP hoop every time I update FreeFileSunc.]

Which part of: Macrium Reflect Pro, Acronis True Image, FreeFileSync -- did I lose you at?  :)

I would not worry about windows 10 being unlisted with such a drive, it should work regardless of the OS.

Just go for it, I have a three year old external that works just fine with windows 10
