svchost.exe is running 8 times at once on my computer, all using a different amount of memory

4 are running from the system
2 are a network service
2 are a local service

any input on this?

This is quite normal. As I write this, I have 5 svchost. exe. running on my computer. See this MS article (Article ID:314056;Last Review:April 26, 2006;
Revision:1.5)
