Hope someone can help me ! I can't change my homepage from http://xysearch.biz/?wmid=1010. Tried IE Options tools, System Restore etc. No Luck. Been reading a few of the Posts here and have run Spybot, Ad-Aware SE (second time shut down my computer as I went to run it), CWShredder and TDS-3 before running Hijackthis and posting log below. I'm running XP Home version. Anyone any ideas how I can get rid of this and if it has damaged my computer ? Appreciate any help.

Hi

Please download Reglook from here:

http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=F...ownload&id=3618

Extract the program and run it. When it has completed it will create a log. Post that log as a reply to this topic. Also post a fresh HJT log please.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

Hi :thumbsup:

Note, please read this carefully, as the steps do repeat a few times, but the last step does change a bit

Download killbox here:
KillBox

Unzip the folder to your desktop.
Start Killbox.exe
Select the Delete on reboot option.

1. Copy and paste the line below in the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TGBRFV_.exe

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, press the NO button.

2. Copy and paste the line below in the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TGBRFV_5.dll

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, press the NO button.

3. Copy and paste the line below in the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TGBRFV_.dll

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, press the YES button.

Your computer will now reboot and check to see if the file is gone.

Please print or copy these instructions because you are not able to access the Internet in SafeMode.

Make sure you are set to show hidden files and folders:
A. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
B. Click the View tab.
C. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
D. Uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes and Hide protected operating system files.
How to see hidden files in Windows

REBOOT into SafeMode by tapping F8 key repeatedly at bootup: Starting your computer in Safe mode

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.zpecialoffer.com/indexie.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://minisearch.startnow.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://www.zpecialoffer.com/results.asp?keyword=%s

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

I found no information about this file: clock.exe. If you don't know what it does/is check this entry:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [clockplugin] C:\Windows\Pluglns\clock.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Atat] C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\csso.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Cxzmeo] C:\WINDOWS\System32\m?iexec.exe
O4 - Global Startup: WebSecureAlert.lnk = C:\Program Files\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureAlert.exe

O19 - User stylesheet: (file missing)

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Search for these files and delete them if found:
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\csso.exe <-- this file

Delete these folders:
C:\Program Files\WebSecureAlert\ <-- this folder

Empty the Recycle Bin.

REBOOT normally.

Copy and paste the contents of the following quotebox into Notepad:

dir C:\WINDOWS\System32\m?iexec.exe /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Save it as FindFile.bat and save it on your Desktop.

Locate FindFile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here.

Run HijackThis! again and post a new log.

Hi

P2P Networking is a totally useless Kazaa add-on, and it's been reported to be responsible for serious system slowdowns.
You can unistall this program from Add\Remove Programs.
P2P Networking

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://xysearch.biz?wmid=1010
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://lfnmcjw.biz?u=1540 (obfuscated)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART

O21 - SSODL: Web Event Logger - {7CFEFEF1-ED03-1337-ABCD-526492F5D679} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Lkkkaf32.dll

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Search for these files and delete them if found:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Lkkkaf32.dll <-- this file

C:\WINNT\System32\msiexec.exe <-- this file Please read the note below
Note: You will find two files with the same filename in the C:\WINNT\System32\ folder: msiexec.exe. One is legitimate and one is bad. You must delete the bad one and keep the legitimate. Right click on each file and select Properties. Check Description and Size.
Please note the difference:
<legitimate, good file> --> Description: Windows® installer, Size = 64,512 bytes
<bad file> --> Description: unknown, Size = 389,120 bytes

Delete these folders:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\ <-- this folder, foldername starts with COMETS

Empty the Recycle Bin.

REBOOT normally.

Run HijackThis! again and post a new log please.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

C:\WINNT\System32\msiexec.exe.....bad - only good file showing (its still there !)

Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
Click File menu -> Save and name the file as unhide.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files
Save this file on the desktop.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001
"SearchHidden"=dword:00000001
"IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"Hidden"=dword:00000001
"ShowSuperHidden"=dword:00000001

Double-click on the unhide.reg file you saved on your desktop, and when it prompts to merge say Yes.

REBOOT your machine.

Look for the bad file and delete it.

REBOOT and post a new hijackthis log please.

A couple of files have recently appeared on my desktop :
Q548361.exe and Thumbs.db - don't know what these are or what to do with them ! Can these be deleted ?

Delete Q548361.exe, I don't know what it is.
Thumbs.db should be OK, but you can delete it.
Read this: http://www.fcs.iastate.edu/computer/tips/thumbs/default.htm - What is Thumbs.db?
I've never seen Thumbs.db on the desktop. :thumbsup:

Seems my homepage has now reverted back to Wanadoo which is good, but I'm having a problem accessing Webcamnow.com. Can't load the page which takes me through the sign-on to the chat rooms and never had a problem with this before - any ideas ?
Thanks
