It is the product key that came with authentic Microsoft software that has not been used on any other computer.

If you have a legitimate installation use the call in method to authenticate Windows (or other Microsoft Software)

Click start/programs/accessories/authenticate and it will give you two options - one to authenticate over the internet and if that fails it will give you toll free phone numbers to call.

If you do not authenticate Windows (or whatever other software it is) will shut down and become inoperable in 30 days.

If you used a copy of Windows that was used on any other computer buy a legitimate copy and use the key number for it to validate your installation.

There is no other fix.

Enthusiast has already given you the appropriate solution.

There is no other way. Buy a genuine copy or do without. Your choice.

You cannot get a Windows XP Key from anyone but Microsoft.
It will be cheaper to buy an OEM copy of XP at a Microsoft Dealer.

If you do not authenticate Windows will shut down in 30 days from the date you tried to authenticate it and it failed.

Sorry.

What you are trying to do is called piracy and is illegal.
