Hey there,

I have a very strange problem, which happened to me a few days ago.

It was aprox. a few days after a major windows update on my main PC, when I suddenly couldnt open any web browser.

My internet connection though is alright, i can play multiplayer games through Steam.

When I try to open any browser (chrome, explorer, mozilla), It just shows the small "loading circle" next to my cursor for a few seconds, and that is all, nothing more happens.

I believe it could be possibly due to some virus, i have no other explanation for it.

I would love to solve this problem without having to completely reset my PC to factory settings.

Thanks alot for any kind of help! :)

If you can't open a browser, how are you playing a online game?

Please download and install Farbar Service Scanner.

When FSS opens you will see an image like the one below.

Place checks in all of the boxes and then click on Scan

When the Scan is complete a log similar to the one below will open.  Copy and then paste this in your topic.

Well this would be it...

I am not sure.... I can play games on steam, as usual, with other people. I guess that is, as it is not required to physically open a browser to start these games.

Still, cant do anything on the internet, as i need to physically "click" the browser button.

I'm guessing that the games you play on/from steam have already been downloaded?

Please download the portable version and load it on a flash drive Windows Repair (All in one), then install it on the computer that you can't use a browser with and run it.

Notice:  This will take a long time to run, please allow for at least an hour for this to complete.  Stopping this can cause damage to the operating system.

When you open the Windows Repair (All in one) you will see tabs labeled Steps 1. through 5.  Then Repairs and Settings.  2. through 4. are optional.

Step 1.  Do a Proper Power Reset.  This is impotant and not optional.

Step 2.  Clean Your System From Infections (Optional).  This option will run Malwarebytes Antimalware if you choose to.

Step 3.  Check File System (Optional), this will give you the option to see if you need to run chkdsk or the option to run chkdsk.

Step 4.  System File Check (sfc /scannow), (Optional).

Step 5.  Registry Backup & System Restore.  This is not optional.
Click on Backup for the Registry, then click on Create for the System Restore.

Repairs.  Click on Start

tweak6_zps104a9f0c.png

You will see an image similar to the one below, click on Start Repairs

When the Repair has finished you will be asked if you want to restart your computer, click on Yes.

After the computer is restarted you will need to reopen Windows Repair and go to Settings

Settings.  On this page you will see Log Location, in the same section you will find Open Log Folder.  Click on Open Log Folder, this will open the log files, double click on this, then click on _Windows_Repair_Log.  Copy the log and then paste it in your topic.

Tweaks is optional, you can go to these sites and use the tweaks.
