Google security error when browsing via router wifi...

however, there is no such issue when attempting to via the same pages after disabling WiFi and using solely mobile data. The pages are normal sites like Google.com, yet when trying to connect via WiFi I get a warning in Chrome that the site is not secure and I could be at risk from attackers. Any ideas as to why this discrepancy may happen - ie is it possible for a router to be compromised - would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
