I get very poor picture quality while streaming NBC and Netflix: buffeting and a jerky, skipping picture. I don't have these issues with UK based channels. I use a VPN. Do these networks use different formats? Could I solve the problem with a new wifi router?

I have W10 installed. My computer an ASUS notebook K53E, 2 x 2.10Ghz, i3(2nd gen), cache 3MB, 1366 x 768 pixel, 330GB.

My wifi router is a Cisco EPC3925. I have been thinking about upgrading my router anyway, so even some general information would be good. I use my computer in the same room as the router (mostly less than 10 feet away) without any other devices connected simultaneously.
