If you are using Firefox, then....

  • Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the esetsmartinstaller_enu.png icon on your desktop.
  • Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
  • Click the Start button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click List Threats
  • Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Click the Back button.
  • Click the Finish button.
  • NOTE:Sometimes if ESET finds no infections it will not create a log.

I've downloaded ESET installer and followed the instructions properly, that was the result I posted in my reply which came up after I selected the 'start button'.

Use either Firefox after updating Firefox or use IE as per instructions...Opera is probably the problem.

Update Firefox to 43 by clicking on Help and choose About Firefox and then choose Update)

EDIT:  This could be the problem with ESET:

JonDo 13/12/2015

JonDo – the IP changer

You may use JonDonym for anonymous surfing, anonymous e-mail, chats and other purposes. JonDo, formerly JAP, is the ip changer proxy tool you have to install on your computer. It acts as a proxy and will forward the traffic of your internet applications multible encrypted to the mix cascades and so it will hide your ip address. It is a Java application, open source and you can download it for free. You may use JonDonym for free, but free mix cascades are restricted in some cases. Full speed and anonymisation features you will get only with a premium account.

JonDo will provide an anonymisation proxy for you, but it does NOT change your system setting. You have to configure the proxy setting of each internet application you want to use anonymous with JonDonym by self. Tutorials you may find in our online help and in our wiki. For anonymous web surfing our preconfigured Firefox profil JonDoFox is highly recommended.

Hi Buddy,

I would like to keep FileHippo, it's very useful for keeping my apps up to date, is that ok?

'Yes Startup Common Stay On Top.lnk C:\Windows\Installer\{5C6C0192-BA75-4932-8931-B2FF88346E49}\_16dd6dc4.exe' is an app which let's me select the app which I want to stay on top of other windows, also very useful.

I stopped using Firefox about a year ago because it kept on crashing, I very much like to use Firefox and tried to resolve the problem by updating Flash  but it didn't work, only had this problem with Opera(Opera crashed) when I registered with this forum for the first time. At around the same time my internet connection failed too, even thou my internet provider is very reliable.

Up to you...FileHippo is ad intensive and I really don't think necessary.

I only suggested to disable Stay on Top in the Startup...not a problem to leave it there.

Were you able to run Eset Scan? If you only configured the proxy for Opera it should work in either Firefox or IE. Otherwise, you will

need to disable the proxy before running a scan using Eset.

How is the computer performing...up to par?

Hi,

I'm going to try to run ESET using ESET installer again in Opera, if that doesn't work I'll update Firefox  and try to run ESET there, then go through your list with CCleaner.

I'm not aware of having enabled any Proxy for Opera.
Computer is working fine, thanks.

Then what is JonDo – the IP changer...doing on your computer if you are not using it? Didn't you read my post # 20?

I tried to download and run ESET installer with the new Firefox but it did't work either. Then with IE and they said that in order to use ESET with other browsers than IE I'd have to use the installer. Maybe because I used ESET some time ago before?

I haven't done the CCleaner task yet. What should I do next?

Uninstalled JonDo, FTP surfer, Java update 51+ 60, restarted computer and still can't access ESET.

Also the new Firefox crashed asking to update Flash, like it did before I stopped using it. Flash is up- to date as far as I know.

You can update flash in Firefox by clicking on Tools > Addons > Plugins and then click on Check for updates. If the Flash plug-in is installed that will

show you if it needs updating or not.

You may need to do a clean Uninstall/  reinstall of Firefox if that doesn't solve the crash problem. A clean uninstall means you will need to run the uninstaller and then

do a search for Mozilla Firefox files. Delete all of them. That will remove your Firefox profile....a clean uninstall.
