Every other day I lose Windows Live Mail, and have to restart my PC to get it back. I click on the icon and it continually cycles, but doesn't open. I've run and updated MWB, AVAST!, and SWB. Something's amiss, and I can't figure it out.

What version are you using?

If it's earlier than than 2012 you should definitely upgrade.  If it is 2012 you might want to consider reinstalling.  If you're using IMAP to connect an uninstall/reinstall shouldn't change anything that you're seeing since messages are stored on the server, not the client, until you access them and the message bodies will download again if you access a message.

I'm away from the computer right now, but I think it's prior to 2012. Anyhow, I'll look into reinstalling.

Someone on these very forums just posted a thread about having received a message from Microsoft regarding the need to upgrade to the latest version of Windows Live Mail in order to keep it functioning.  That's the only reason I happened to know about it.  Do a search and you'll find it.  It was posted within the last week.

That was me...a link to my post:

I had the 2011 version. I updated to 2012, and ran the fix.

Did you uninstall then reinstall yesterday or did you do an "install over" install?  If the latter then I'd consider doing a complete uninstall, reboot, and reinstall of WLM 2012.

Of course, I'd just try rebooting and seeing if that solves the problem (as it so often does).  I've not had WLM misbehave but the new Win10 Mail App is a PITA!

LOL, that hit me this morning after I submitted my last post. Gonna do that now.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it looks like that was the problem. I uninstalled/reinstalled, and everything is shipshape. We'll see tomorrow morning when I fire it up for the first time of the day.......lol.

As far as Win10.............my wife has asked me to wait until after the first of the year to install it. I expect that to be a real white knuckle job.......lol.

After re-reading the email from Microsoft, I realized that nothing I can do will change the mail app, other than installing Win10. I notified everyone on my Windows Live address book to contact me thru my other email account until further notice. I'll be upgrading to Win10 after the 1st of the year. Thanks for all your help.........Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone.
