I have a laptop running win8,

I've put it to sleep overnight and then when I woke it up, it was slower than normal. Chrome tabs were also taking a long time to load.

After trying to restart it, the laptop would get stuck at the bootscreen with the spinning dots.

I then manually shutdown and powered on the laptop after waiting a while, which lead to the message "Automatic repair" under the dots

After some time, the message was replaced with "scanning & repairing drive D:".

It lead to a blue screen after couple of minutes; "windows could not boot properly, try a system restore"

clicking "restore" lead to a blank black screen, which then after a really long time, the laptop restarted on its own.

After waiting for the computer to startup again, it seemed ok,

but everything is really slow (double clicking applications etc)
