I cannot get Copy and Paste to work in the forum. I get the text to paste into the box which pops up, but that is it. I can find no way to get that text to transfer to the thread.

Advice please?

Have you tried simply right clicking in the compose box and choosing Paste?

Also, some browsers have EDIT in their toolbars.
You can click EDIT/Paste.

What browser and version number are you using. Secondly are you using the forum Rich Text Editor or is it disabled and you're using WYSIWYG input.

I think it's the forum software they use, because I have never been able to paste via right-click on BC. However there are 2 other ways that work for me, perhaps they'll work for you too.

Method 1:
Copy normally. To paste press "control" + "v".

Method 2:
Copy normally. To paste, go to the "Edit" menu (your web-browser may not have this menu), and choose "Paste".

It seems to be a bug in Edge. None of the usual paste methods work in Edge ---- but they work OK in Chrome and Maxthon, thus

Copy normally. To paste press "control" + "v".

Perhaps someone would like to try it in Edge, to see if it is just affecting me?

Top left button? What button is that? If it is the button to the left of the Remove Format button it does nothing in my browser. It does not paste.

I think I may only have this issue with paste in this forum ---- I have tried using it elsewhere and it has worked, so it may be wrong to blame Edge.

A few questions if I may:

1. What's the difference between RTE & WYSIWYG?

2. How does one tell which they are using?

3. How does one switch from one to the other?

TIA B)

In the post window, the upper far left icon looks like a 'light switch'. Toggle that icon and the post tool icons will colorize or gray out. Colorized and you are using the RTE. All icons grayed out and you are using WYSIWYG.

This might help you understand the differences between the 2 different editors
Help Topic: Posting & The Post Editor

You toggle between the 2 depending on which one you want to use.

With RTE, all the functions can be done by using the appropriate icon.

Standard mode (grayed out icons)-if you want to bold, change font size or color, use quotes or code box, etc. you have to enter the BB code for that function.

Examples of BB code for bold and quote

[b]code for bold[/b]

[quote]code for quote[/quote]

When posted it will look like this

code for bold

code for quote

I am using RTF. In fact when I accidentally clicked that button in the past and the display greyed I though something had gone wrong!

I am getting paste to work in both RTF and WYSIWIG.  So it seems the problem was a temporary glitch. I wish all problems with W10 were temporary, like a number of other people I have been without Microsoft apps since the November update and no one seems to know what can be done about it apart from reinstalling the OS.

'CTRL' and 'V' together will do the trick. It's quite common on many forums to find that Copy/Paste doesn't work.

Ctrl+C - Copy

Ctrl+X - Cut

Ctrl+V - Paste

have been part of the Windows keyboard shortcuts since Windows debuted.  Here's the latest list for Windows 10 and this guy gives a good set of less often used ones, too.

The basic ones work, almost literally, everywhere.
