After action report,

After update KB2862330, the USB controllers caused BSODs. It didn't happen in Win 7, Knoppix, or Fedora, so, it was an XP problem. Thank you Mothership. Two years later, after so much tweaking, it turns out to be an update after all. Knew it. Said it.

The fix:

  • unistall KB2862330
  • Disable Enhanced USB controllers in Device manager
  • reinstall KB2862330
  • Enable Enhanced USB controllers in Device manager

Now, this puppy runs.

This is a Dell Inspiron e1705 w/ T7600s, a GeForce 9950GTX, 4 gig RAM, 1TB HDD, 6 USB2.0, 3 USB3.0, new screen and KB, triple booting XP SP3 (still updating), Win 7 Ultimate, & Fedora 20.

We have the technology, we can rebuild it. :bananas:
