I just checked with Task Manager, with nothing running there is about 50% cpu used. Everything is at 0% or close, as far as usage. No processes running. Computer is running really slow.

Ive run adwcleaner, malwarebytes antirootkit, an expired version of hitman and malwarebytes, and nothing.

I installed bitdefender free, probably after infection, and I couldn't run a scan in safe mode.  I couldn't seem to find deep scan in regular mode.

The relative who owns the computer said something about 250 or so programs being installed?  Took a while to update.  I don't know what happened.

I don't know if the trial avg was active or not. Firewall was.

Suggestions?

I misspoke, no applications running and the processes showed close to 0% cpu.  I looked now and it's down to 0% on the cpu.  The computer has been running slow, though, even firefox said it was opening slow.  Andalso when I looked last night, there seemed to be a lot of cpu %, for what I had open
