Hello, this is my first post here, so I hope that I am writing this in the correct section.

I have a problem, that when I press the power button on my laptop, it shows the first screen, then it goes to black screen with the "_" blinking at the top left part, then it becomes fully black. Sometimes it manages to boot to my Windows 7, but it takes a while. However, mostly it shuts down.

If during the boot I press F8, I can manage to load Windows 7 faster by either starting it normally or going to the safe mode. When I launch it, BIOS starts beeping continuously with long beeps (1 second beep and 1 second pause or something similar to that). It loaded the Windows and I could go to browser, go to web pages, but beeping didn't stop. Last time I counted 31 beeps and then the laptop turned off again.

My laptop is rather old, the model is "Neo Basic B2240N". The problem slowly started like a week ago, maybe a month ago, but much more rare. I had problems with booting Windows, but eventually it always managed to load and then it worked fine. Today is the first day, when it loads, but for a very short duration only.

Initially, I thought that the problem might be because of some overheating, but the laptop is cold, so I doubt that this could be an issue. Could this be the problem with the motherboard?

Thank you for any assistance.

Start with these free diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html.

The first 3 are bootable, so you can run them without booting into Windows.

Let us know the results and we'll move on from there.

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
