I don't know if this is the right place, but there was no mention of virus removal in the android section.

I have  a new samsung galaxy tab s2 8.  Using opera beta browser.

Some images popped up (had the colours on negative so I couldn't make out what they were, but I think it was porn) Something tried to download, and I pressed cancel immediately.  opera has stoped working and I have a message saying 'your mobile device has been blocked' and asking me to pay £100.

I closed the browser and everything else on the device seems ok, I tried following this:

https://blog.malwarebytes.org/mobile-2/2014/05/difficulty-removing-koler-trojan-or-other-ransomware-on-android/

but couldn't find the program mentioned.  The problem seems confined to the browser, can I just uninstall opera and reinstall?

If I install malwarebites mobile now will it pick up something that may already be on the tablet? or dose it just stop new infections?

I'm not familiar with android so didn't wan't mess around with anything incase I made thing worse.

Do you know how to open Android Task Manager?

If not, I suggest downloading AVAST mobile.

Thanks for the reply.

Is application manager in settings the same thing as task manager?

I've already deleted opera while in safe mode.

I'm considering a doing a factory reset, to be on the safe side.

I haven't had the tab very long, so don't have a lot of stuff on it yet, so would't loss anything important.
