When I insert a game disk into my laptop (Win 8.1) or into my desktop PC (Win 7) the disk spins forever but nothing happens, it's as if the computers don't know it's in there.

The game is "Fleet Command", it's at least 10 years old and says on the box that it's for Win 2000 and XP.

Is there any way I can make 8.1 and 7 recognise it?

PS- I've tried enabling/disabling auto-play with no joy.

Not sure but compatibility mode may work.

Hi Mick,

Have you looked at any of the forums for this game ?  I see mention of Win 10 on this one so there might be help with 8/8.1.

I can't speak for 8.1, but you can usually get games of that vintage to run on Win 7 if with a little work. I haven't got it installed at the moment but I used to have the MS Train Sim running well on 7 - with the help of advice from one of the UK forums, I think UK TrainSim. Worth a look.

Thanks guys, I managed to muddle through, I think disabling the Autostart did the trick, allowing me to do it manually by trying some assorted right-clicks.. :)
