BSOD and the (D) Drive

Since the recent November update I have been getting BSOD about once a day, with the following Notification


Driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL (dxgmsl.sys)


What puzzles me about this (not that I know much about it anyway) is that when I restart the computer  it is not the © Drive that is scanned / repaired but the (D) Drive, an integral SD Memory Card. The © Drive has the OS, on (D) are mainly apps / programs, documents, media. Has this anything to do with the fact that I have used the new option to move apps from © to (D)? Are not the drivers on the © Drive with the OS?


Can someone explain, after which I will see if I can follow the procedure for submitting request for BSOD help if that is the thing to do.

It may not be as simple as that.

On some systems the D: drive is renamed to C: once Windows boots.

Additionally, as some programs are running from the D: drive, there can be errors associated with it.


The error reports a driver problem with DirectX (which relates to your video).

As most things that you do with your computer involves the video - it's possible for the error to come from anywhere.

Should you have problems with the perfmon report, please disregard it (I don't use it very much anyway).

Should the app lock up for more than 15 minutes while searching for Network information (it does this in my copy of W10), go ahead and kill the app. 
Then navigate to the Documents folder and zip up the 18 reports in the SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder - then upload that with your next post.

If that doesn't work, then you can try this new app (from a friend of mine):  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/
When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.
By default it'll be a .zip file located on your Desktop
Simply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there.


My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
