I have reset my computer to factory, (Win 7), installed my Win 8 disk, have tried everything to get all my updates, clean install, update fixer, still
get the reverting error message. Can I jump to Win 10, if I have not concluded all the Win. 8 updates?

If you don't have the necessary updates you will not be able to upgrade to Windows 10.  If there are problems with Windows 8.1 you will have problems after upgrading to Windows 10.

Thanks, I thought so, went back to Win. 7 and will upgrade from there with all the updates, will that work?

I would suggest starting your own topic.

Explain what your problem is with Windows Defender is full detail.

I usually helps if you post the make and model of this computer.

Upgraded from Win 7, first got a Win.10 zip and burned, to Win.10, works great.
