Windows 10 doesn't want to recognise iphone

So this is an issue that has only begun since upgrading to windows 10. When I plug my iphone 6 into my PC, iTunes will pick it up but windows seemingly doesn't recognise it as a storage device. It doesn't appear under devices and printers where I can normally see any USBs or hardrives and such. It used to always be there on previous windows versions and thats how I would transfer videos/photos from my phone to PC.

 

So now when I first plugged the phone in I got the message saying it was installing the device:

It sat at that point for over an hour and clearly wasn't doing anything. I eventually canceled it .. any time it is connected now, in devices and printers it shows up as:

So I'm not really sure what I can do.

 

I only just formatted windows 10 as I was having all sorts of other issues. This was happening before except it got past this stage and the iphone appeared in device manager but needed a driver update and that driver update wouldn't work without a MTP Device USB which was missing from my PC. I searched all over online trying to figure out where I can download this. The only links which were official microsoft downloads which supposedly contained it did not work when I installed them. But I haven't got to that stage since the format Now it just refuses to accept that an iphone is even attached .. yet itunes picks it up no problems.

 

So I have no idea what to do. I have seen some people have success with various methods in threads on other forums yet when I've tried the same things it doesn't work. Never had so much trouble with a new version of windows before. Anyone have any ideas or experienced similar?

This seems (I'm just guessing) that there's a problem with the drivers that are installed for the iPhone.   FWIW - I don't connect my iPhone to my computer, it's just too much trouble!

I'd uninstall/reinstall iTunes and see if that helps.
If not, I'd contact Apple Support for assistance in managing iTunes.


My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
