Greetings

I came here looking for answers because when I was finally invited to my so anticipated game called Overwatch.

I get an error, that my graphics card isn't up to snuff. I can play most Blizzard games just fine (Heroes of the Storm, SC2 though at very low graphics ...)

Now I am quite a newb when it comes to the internal affairs of my computer's case.

I also did some research and I understand that it's not so easy to just plug in a newly bought graphics card, there's other factors to take into account like Power Supply and Processor, memory ...

Now I'd appreciate it a lot, if you could advise me on this matter and or whether it's just cheaper to go for an entire new pc.

Specs:

Graphics Card: GeForce 9800 GT (integrated RAMDAC, 2287 MB memory)

OS: Windows Professional 7, 64 bit

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (4CPU) ~ 2.3 GHz

RAM: 4096 MB

System Model: MS-7519   (Micro-star International)

Power Supply: 336W

I added a few pictures from inside my case if that will help.

You are gonna need to upgrade your power supply, in all likelihood. One of the slowest, most low end, cards requires at least a 350 watt power supply. There are a variety of cards which will run Overwatch fine, and SC2 great, it all depends on your budget. Establish a budget then we can recommend some power supply/video card combinations.

Never post a link to a file sharing site like this one. The site might be totally legitimate, but it is still more steps then is necessary for viewing pictures. The pictures are zipped, which makes the download suspicious. There are numerous sites for uploading pictures for free. Such as Imgur.com or Photobucket.com.

Ok, thank you very much! :) Sorry i'll fix those pictures.

I guess the budgets around 300-400 euro. Can be cheaper of course (100-200), I'm still a student.

What's the green 500gb?
Is that my harddrive? I've read something about solid state drives (SSD), but that can't be it.

Secondly, the blue socket where my graphics card is plugged into, is that my PCI express?

Yes the blue socket is your PCie x16 slot (v2.0). You also should also have 2 short white PCIe x1 sockets and 3 older style PCI sockets (the longer white ones).

Yes the "green 500GB" is your hard drive (Western Digital Green 500GB).

I can't see a solid state drive on your pictures.

Here is a possible psu+gpu combination. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/7h7Vzy
You may want to check how much room you have for the graphics card.

Hello! Thanks for the help!

I did check out those 2 parts and the graphics card looks awesome!

Except, in my currency, it's 512 euro + 6 euro shipping (I live in Belgium)

Is this really what I would need to get myself back into competitiveness with other new computers?

Is there a cheaper alternative? I've lived without AA and high quality textures all these years, no need for ultra.

(+ would I need some extra RAM? I've read that most games require 6 gb these days, I don't use a 2nd monitor though)

Don't know of any stores in belgium. Putting another stick of ram won't hurt, and ddr3 is cheap these days.

I've tried Amazon de/fr

And I've come across this one: AMD Radeon R9 380X

Apparently that one gives you the most bang for your buck. American site said it was only $230, yet I only find the AMD Radeon R9 380  (with 985 MHz fGPU) for 230 euro.

For the AMD Radeon R9 380X (1 GHz) I pay €305

Your choice of gpus. The 380x has 15% better performance.
