First I got error 651 and fixed it. And now I get error 797.

When I go to the control panel, under phone and modem. there is a blank page for Modem.

I made sure the cable is well attached to both modem and PC. I unplugged the modem for about 2 minutes and then plugged it back in. Nothing happened.

Downloaded Network Adapter Driver from Intel (PROWinx64.exe), but, after successfull download, Intel said it could not install the driver.

Same thing happened when I downloaded PPOE from Windows. And Windows could not find an Ethernet Controller driver. Both these have a yellow triangle in the Device Manager.

I am currently using a USB wireless antenna.

What should I do to retrieve my broadband connection?

Hamlouis

If it is of any help (seeing so many corruptions) I could send a cmbfx log to you or to who you indicate.

Sorry for my late reply. I had to be in the hospital for some time.

Thank you for your interest.

ComboFix is a tool used for malware situations...and is not allowed/used in this forum.

Give me a few minutes to look over the data submitted, please.

Do you have a valid licenxe for this Win 7 Ultimatel install?  A Windows install that presents problems less than 48 hours after install...is not a good thing.

This may also help

The new raspppoe.sys is a Microsoft file, analyzed by Virustotal, as well as Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, and passed the tests 100%.

Replacing the previous file with this new one solved error 651.

It is not genuine. But before, when I updated to Win10 legit, from my updates, I could never connect to my broadband.

The Win7 I had before that, I borrowed from a friend. I can not vouch for its legitimacy. Broadband didn't work. But it also could not find the bootmgr nor the NTLSD.

This all started happening after I installed a new SSD and migrated the OS to the SSD.

Thinking this could have something to do with the problem, I wiped it clean with a Corsair SSD cleaner (the SSD is Corsair just like my memory sticks). I had to migrate the OS back first and, after it was thoroughly wiped clean, I made a Win7 clean install. But I activated it with a Windows Loader 2.2.2.

This took away my boot and reboot problem. When I installed the Win7 for the nth time, the first thing that appeared was the Win10 logo. That's when I decided that Microsoft wanted me to stay stuck with the Win10 somehow and I cleaned the SSD.

I appreciate your honesty..;but we won't be able to assist you with an illegal, non-genuine install of Windows.

Excerpt from the Forum Rules:  "No subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures. If a user persists and/or the activity is obviously illegal the staff reserves the right to remove such content and/or ban the user. This would also mean encouraging the use or continued use of pirated software is not permitted, and subject to the same consequences."

If you have any questions about my actions...please contact me via PM and I will try to answer/respond said questions intelligently.
