One of my grand sons came over the other day to get his mail and a few small packages.

He buys odds and ends from some place in china on line.

He got a 1 TB thumb drive.  I did not even know they made them that big.  He told me the next time he found one he would get it for me.

China is notorious for producing flash drives that report huge capacities but only have much smaller true capacity. Once you try to fill it beyond the smaller amount, it fails.

Just for clarity, this is the only 1TB USB flash drive on the market. And even though it's been out for 2 years the price has hardly moved.

I'm looking forward to when it becomes affordable though. (it seems not too long ago 512Mb flash drives were out of my league :P)

So your saying my grandson got took in.

That is what I thought also so I did a web search and they do make and sell them. Mostly the high $ as shown but they do make off brand ones also.  The 2.0 are listed for under $50, the ones from china even less but from what I saw you have to buy them in bulk lots. Cheap per @ but who wants 20 or more. LOL

Even the provided link if you scroll down towards the bottom of the page you find the cheaper ones.

They do make them in 3.0 $$$$ and 2.0 less $$ But there appears to be a lot of fakes also and false capacity claims.

The link I was referring to was in the other guys post, scrolling to the bottom cheaper ones are listed.

They do not make $50 1TB usb drives. The technology just isn't that cheap.

There is only one 1TB USB flash drive on the market, and that is the Kingston HyperX Predator. All the rest are fake.

If it seems to be too good to be true...
